The ministry released on May 14 that since the beginning of this year, 148 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in 27 provinces and cities across the nation, with no fatality.
In response to the situation, the Ministry of Health has proactively strengthened surveillance and closely monitored developments, while enhancing the implementation of prevention and control measures at healthcare facilities and within communities. It has ensured readiness for patient admission, emergency care, and effective treatment, especially for high-risk groups such as pregnant women, individuals with underlying diseases, and the elderly, with the aim of preventing fatalities.
The public has been advised to wear masks in public places, on public transportation, and in healthcare facilities; avoid large gatherings unless necessary; wash hands frequently with clean water and soap or use hand sanitiser; maintain a healthy diet, and exercise regularly; and seek immediate medical services at the nearest healthcare facility if experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath.
People arriving or returning from countries with high numbers of COVID-19 cases should proactively monitor their health to protect themselves, their families, and those in close contact, the ministry said.
The ministry will continue to coordinate with the World Health Organisation (WHO) to closely monitor the global COVID-19 situation and implement appropriate and effective prevention and control measures.
Globally, in the 28-day period ending on April 27, a total of 25,463 COVID-19 cases were reported, a decrease of 56.9% compared to the previous 28 days.
