25 years ago, on February 16, 1995, Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet signed and promulgated Government Decree No 19/CP to establish Viet Nam Social Security. For the first time, since the establishment of the country, a Government agency specialising in the implementation of social insurance policies (social insurance) and health insurance policies (health insurance) was established. Since then, ensuring the benefits of social insurance and health insurance for employees and all people has been implemented more fully and in a more timely manner.

Over 25 years of construction and growth, the social insurance industry has contributed to the coverage of the social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance policies, which have been constantly expanded. There are hundreds of thousands of workers and millions of people each year, who have been protected through social insurance and health insurance regimes, contributing to ensuring social security, creating safety and social stability, towards the goal of social justice.
