Vietnam Social Security’s response to Law Day more practical and effective
The Vietnam Law Day, which falls on November 9, affirms the position of the rule of law in society. This day has been specified in the Law on Law Dissemination and Education since 2012. On this occasion, the Vietnam Social Security (VSS)’s portal spoke to VSS deputy general director Chu Manh Sinh, who is also chairman of the sector’s Coordinating Council for Law Dissemination and Education about how the VSS has responded to the day.

National Assembly Deputy Proposes to Finalize Health Insurance Review Regulations to Help Enhance Treatment Quality
In the afternoon of October 31, the National Assembly held discussions in the main hall regarding the draft amendment and supplementation of the Law on Health Insurance. Contributing to finalization of the draft law, various National Assembly Deputies proposed solutions to improve the quality of health insurance assessment and the reimbursement process for medical examination and treatment premiums payment.

Health insurance coverage be expanded
Accordingg to USA’s commonwealth fund, an estimated 26 million Americans, or 8 percent of the U.S. population, lacked health insurance in 2023.1 While the United States still lags countries that have universal coverage, today’s uninsured rate represents a sea change from the years prior to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), when twice as many people — 49 million, or 16 percent of the population — lacked health coverage.2 This was also a time when people with preexisting conditions were out of luck when they sought to buy insurance on their own, when millions of young adults became uninsured when they graduated from high school or college, and when insurance companies in the individual market charged young women much higher premiums than young men and rarely covered maternity care.

Clarifying leadership roles in ensuring medical supplies
During the plenary session on the draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance (HI), National Assembly deputy Ho Thi Kim Ngan (Bac Kan Province) proposed that, to address the shortage of medicine and medical supplies and ensure the rights of patients, it is necessary to clarify the responsibility of leaders in ensuring the availability of medicine and medical supplies.
