On October 8th , Vietnam Social Security (VSS) held a system-wide coordination conference to review the results of tasks performed in September 2026 and roll out key tasks for October and the fourth quarter of 2026. VSS General Director Le Hung Son chaired the conference.

In the first nine months of 2026, social security works continued to receive timely and effective attention and implementation from authorities and sectors at all levels. The total amount of social security support provided to target groups reached nearly VND 69.3 trillion VND; nearly 35.1 million health insurance (HI) cards, and free medical examination and treatment cards and books were issued to beneficiaries. At the same time, policies supporting people with meritorious services, poor households, near-poor households, and people facing difficulties continued to be implemented, contributing to stabilizing living conditions and ensuring social security.

The Plan focuses on completing policies, developing the number of participants, and expanding HI benefits.

On September 22, 2026, in Hanoi, Viet Nam Social Security (VSS), in collaboration with the World Bank, organized the international workshop “Employment and Social Protection for Digital Platform Workers in Viet Nam.” The workshop focused on identifying changes in the labour market brought about by the digital economy, emerging issues for social insurance policy, and international experience in expanding social protection coverage for this group of workers.
