On December 15, the Provincial Social Security Office of Thai Binh continued to hold a working conference with units that have been slow in paying Social, Health, and Unemployment Insurance in the province. The working session was attended by representatives from the Provincial Police leadership, the Provincial Tax Department, the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, and representatives from nearly 50 businesses in the province.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Director of the Provincial Social Security Office of Thai Binh, Mac Thanh Hai, affirmed that in recent years, the agency has always cooperated and created conditions for labor-using units to effectively implement legal policies on Social, Health, and Unemployment Insurance, ensuring legitimate rights for workers. However, until now, some businesses in the province have been slow in paying Social, Health, and Unemployment Insurance for an extended period, directly affecting the resolution of sickness, maternity, occupational accidents, occupational diseases, and retirement benefits.
This situation is particularly challenging for the extension of health insurance cards in 2024 for workers. Based on signed inter-agency cooperation programs and regulations, the Provincial Social Security Office of Thái Bình has, is, and will continue to closely coordinate with the Police Department, Tax Department, Trade Union, and the inspection of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs to vigorously conduct specialized inspections, inter-agency inspections, and surprise inspections. They will resolutely handle violations, evasion, and delays in paying Social, Health, and Unemployment Insurance. At the same time, they will report to the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and coordinate with the media to publicly disclose specific information about the units in arrears. Therefore, labor-using units are requested to proactively comply strictly with legal regulations, pay Social, Health, and Unemployment Insurance correctly and sufficiently for the number of employees at the unit, ensuring the rights and benefits of workers, especially during the end of 2023, to timely implement the extension of health insurance cards in 2024 for workers.
Deputy Director of the Provincial Social Security Office of Thai Binh, Mac Thanh Hai, speaking at the working session
Participating in the working session, the units shared the reasons leading to the delay in paying Social, Health, and Unemployment Insurance (SHUI) for workers. The basic cause is the difficulties in production and business activities due to the impact of economic downturn. Based on a profound understanding of the significant impact of late payment of Social, Health, and Unemployment Insurance on the rights of workers, representatives of enterprises signed commitments to pay the overdue amounts according to the specified schedule.
Expressing empathy and understanding the difficulties of the units during the past time, especially in the context of socio-economic fluctuations affecting the operation of enterprises, the leaders of the social insurance department and related agencies at the meeting emphasized that late payment of Social, Health, and Unemployment Insurance not only violates legal regulations but also directly affects the resolution of Social, Health, and Unemployment Insurance regimes for workers in these units. Therefore, units need to come up with specific solutions, strictly implement the committed payment schedule, ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of workers. This will help workers feel reassured, enthusiastic, confident, and more attached to the unit, actively contributing to the strong development of the unit./.
