The total amount of this payment is about 20.833 trillion Vietnamese dong, of which: 18.654 trillion Vietnamese dong was paid for pensions and social insurance benefits according to the new level of August 2023, and 2.179 trillion Vietnamese dong was paid for the additional difference amount increases of July 2023 that have not been received by beneficiaries.

In some localities, quick assessments have noted that the payment process is proceeding smoothly and swiftly, and beneficiaries are pleased with the increased benefits.

Ha Noi:

Since early morning on August 14th, alongside the rest of the country, the citizens of the capital city have eagerly received their pensions and social insurance benefits at the new rates. With the significantly increased amounts they've received, everyone is feeling excited and pleased.

Today, Mr. Tran Huu Long (aged 66), residing at house number 132, Ly Tu Trong Street, La Khe Ward (Ha Dong District), woke up earlier than usual. After his morning exercises and breakfast, Mr. Long went to the pension payment point at the neighborhood cultural center in Ward 6, La Khe, to receive his pension.

Around 8 o'clock in the morning, holding about 8 million Vietnamese dong in his hand, Mr. Long was elated: "My pension has been increased by about 700,000 dong per month, from over 6.7 million to 7.4 million, including the additional difference amount of July; today, I received about 8 million dong. Receiving this raise in the context of rising prices for many consumer goods gives us some extra funds to take care of our lives. This somewhat demonstrates that the Party and the State always care for the lives of retirees."

Receiving their pensions at the payment point in the neighborhood cultural center of Ward 6, La Khe, both of them, with pensions exceeding 7 million Vietnamese dong, Mrs. Trinh Thi Khuyen (aged 75) residing at Lane 8, Quang Trung Street (Ha Dong District), expressed: "Our pensions have been adjusted several times, each time higher than the previous one. With the amount we receive today, during our elderly years, we live in happiness, and for the most part, do not have to rely on our children and grandchildren."

In addition to the cases mentioned above, nearly 300 individuals who received their pensions at the payment point in Ward 6, La Khe, have received the full adjusted amount of the August 2023 pension and the additional difference amount of the previous pension – July 2023. The payment process has been carried out safely and efficiently, with everyone feeling joyful and elated upon receiving the significantly increased amounts.

The statistics from Hanoi social security office indicate that in the August 2023 pension payment, there were over 591,000 beneficiaries throughout the city, receiving a total amount exceeding 3.947 trillion Vietnamese dong. Among these, more than 250,000 individuals received their payments through personal bank accounts, while over 341,000 received cash payments. The majority of beneficiaries received their pensions and social insurance benefits on the first payment day each month, except for some special cases such as those who are ill or traveling.

Ho Chi Minh City

Implementing the guidance from the Vietnam Social Security regarding the payment of pensions, social insurance benefits, and monthly allowances of the August, 2023 payment, which commenced on August 14, 2023. Specifically, monthly pensions and social insurance benefits must be paid to beneficiaries via their bank accounts on August 14, 2023. Cash payments should be made from August 14, 2023, until the end of August 25, 2023.

Preparing for the timely payment of pensions, social insurance benefits, and monthly allowances, on August 9, 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City Social Security Office compiled a list of beneficiaries with their updated entitlements in accordance with regulations, which was forwarded to the City's Postal Service. The City's Postal Service forwarded the beneficiary list and funds to the bank on August 11, 2023, to ensure that the funds would be credited to the beneficiaries' accounts by the morning of August 14, 2023.

A quick summary of the payment situation on the morning of August 14, 2023: Out of a total of 251,615 beneficiaries, 203,695 individuals received their pensions, social insurance benefits, and monthly allowances of August 2023 (among them, 178,511 beneficiaries received their payments via ATM cards, while 73,104 received cash payments). Specifically, 25,586 individuals received cash payments, and 178,109 individuals received via their bank account. The payment rate reached nearly 81%, with ATM card payments achieving a 100% payment rate.

Lam Dong

In the August payment, the entire province implemented payments of pensions, social insurance benefits, and monthly allowances at the new entitlement rates for 27,457 individuals, with a total payment amount of nearly 174 billion Vietnamese dong. Among this, the additional difference amount was over 19 billion Vietnamese dong.

(residing in Huynh Thuc Khang Ward, District 4, Da Lat City) joyfully shared: "Today, after being notified about receiving the new pension rate and received the additional difference amount of July, I appreciate the quick cooperation between the Social Security office and the Postal Service; they didn't make us elderly folks wait for long. Coming to the neighborhood to receive the pension every month is a source of happiness. With the pension, I am not dependent on my children and can even treat them a little, helping their parents buy school supplies for the new school year."

To timely payment according to the plan of the Vietnam Social Security (VSS), in recent times, the provincial social security office has made concentrated efforts in human resource allocation, conducted a review of beneficiaries receiving monthly social security benefits, prepare and transfer payment lists in accordance with regulations. Simultaneously, the provincial social security office has coordinated with the Postal Service to allocate funds and plan the timely payment of pensions at the new rates.

The pension payment schedule is publicly posted by the local Postal Service in the neighborhoods and announced on the provincial Radio and Television Broadcasting System and the public address system of the communes and wards, ensuring that citizens are informed and can proactively receive their pensions, social security benefits, and monthly allowances.

Lao Cai:

Today, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Liem, residing in Block 15, Bac Lenh Ward (Lao Cai City), came to collect his pension at the Pension Disbursement Point in the residential area and expressed his joy, saying: "According to the regulations, we are entitled to the new pension rate from July. Initially, the information was that I would receive the new pension in September, but later, the payment schedule was adjusted to August, so I am very happy. I also have plans to give some money to my grandchildren for buying school supplies for the upcoming school year."

Despite being over 70 years old, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nghi (residing in Lao Cai City) remains the primary breadwinner in her family. Her daughter was afflicted with a severe illness and has passed away, leaving Ms. Nghi to single-handedly care for her grandchild who is of school-going age. Formerly, Ms. Nghi was a preschool teacher, but she is now retired, receiving a monthly pension of just over 4 million Vietnamese dong. This amount is only sufficient to cover her grandchild's school fees, and the family's living expenses depend on the meager income from a small grocery store.

In the entire province, there are currently 24,104 individuals receiving monthly pensions and social security allowances, of which 24,047 people are receiving pensions and social security allowances at the new rates as stipulated in Government Decree No. 42 dated June 29, 2023.

To ensure the smooth, secure, and compliant payment of the new pensions and social security allowances to beneficiaries, the provincial Social Security office has provided guidance to its staff for reviewing payment records and data. They have also collaborated with the Information Technology Center of Vietnam Social Security to adjust the new benefit levels. Additionally, they have prepared a list of pension payments for August 2023, including the additional difference amount increases from July 2023 based on the new rates. This information will be transferred to the provincial Postal Service for timely payment to the beneficiaries according to the prescribed schedule.

The provincial Social Security office has been and continues to collaborate closely with the provincial Postal Service, optimizing human resources and minimizing the payment time to ensure the full rights and benefits of the beneficiaries. The implementation of the pension payments according to Government Decree No. 42, effective from August 14, 2023, will contribute to ensuring that eligible individuals receive their social security benefits accurately, fully, and in a timely manner.

Ben Tre

On the morning of August 14, 2023, simultaneously at 160 Pension payment locations across the province, the scheduled payment of pensions and social security allowances for August 2023, along with the additional difference amount increases from July 2023, as stipulated in Government Decree No. 42/2023/NĐ-CP, was implemented in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Vietnam Social Security for beneficiaries of social security programs in the province.

According to the management data of the provincial Social Security office, in August 2023, they disbursed payments to a total of 17,668 pensioners and social security beneficiaries. Among them, 8,367 individuals received their payments via their personal ATM accounts, while 9,301 individuals received cash payments. To ensure the timely and accurate of payments to beneficiaries at the new rates, the provincial Social Security office proactively reviewed and adjusted the increased amounts for each beneficiary in accordance with regulations. Additionally, they promptly provided the disbursement list to the provincial Postal Service to commence payment to beneficiaries starting from August 14, 2023.

Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thanh Thuy, a retired official in Phu Khương Ward, Ben Tre City, expressed great joy upon receiving her increased pension. She mentioned that having her pension adjusted upwards and disbursed by the Social security office in accordance with the government's guidance is a source of happiness for her. The additional monthly amount of nearly 1 million Vietnamese dong will make her daily expenses more comfortable. For Mr. Le Thanh Nhan, a retired official in An Hoi Ward, he not only chose to receive his pension at the new rates but also decided to switch to receiving it through an ATM card for added convenience. Starting from the next month, he won't need to visit the payment loacation anymore.

Hai Duong

The entire province currently has 96,607 individuals receiving pensions and social security allowances at the new rates. Among them, 74,332 cases receive direct payments, while 22,275 cases receive their pensions and social security allowances via ATM accounts. The payment for the month of July amounted to over 52 billion Vietnamese dong, while the payment for pensions and social security allowances for August totaled over 447 billion Vietnamese dong.
