The level of social security coverage varies significantly across regions, with Europe and Central Asia (83.9%) and the Americas (64.3%) having much higher coverage than the global average. In contrast, social security coverage in the Asia-Pacific region (44.1%), Arab countries (40%), and Africa (17.4%) is considerably lower than the global average.
