In late October, 2021, Viet Nam Social Security raised alarm about a phone number with the first three digits of +052… sending text messages to many people saying that they were entitled to financial assistance from the Unemployment Insurance Fund as part of the support package targeting labourers who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in order to appropriate the latter’s money. Recently, Viet Nam Social Security has learned about many other cases, in which phone users received messages, phone calls and links asking them to click on bad applications and websites. The alleged scam aims to appropriate the phone users’ money by accessing to and stealing their bank account details and other personal information.
