On December 14, 2021, within the framework of the official visit to Korea by Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue, the Agreement between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and the Government of the Republic of Korea on social insurance was signed. This is the first bilateral agreement between the two countries in this field and also the first bilateral agreement on social insurance between Viet Nam and another country.

Statistics from Vietnam Social Security (VSS) show that currently, about 64% of individuals receiving social insurance and unemployment allowances utilize their personal bank accounts in urban areas, marking a 3% increase from 2022, surpassing the 4% target set in Decision No. 1813/QD-TTg dated October 28, 2021, by the Prime Minister.

Over time, Vietnam Social Security (VSS) has collaborated with the Ministry of Public Security to deploy biometric authentication technologies based on biometric information integrated into the chip-based Citizen Identity Card and the National Population Database to limit and prevent exploitation while paying or receiving benefits related to social, health, and unemployment insurance.
