“Promoting the development of e-Government to serve management tasks of the Government, ministries, sectors and localities”

This is the topic of a conference co-chaired by Minister and Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung and Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Umeda Kunio.

Addressing the conference, Minister and Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung stressed that e-Government heading towards digital government, digital economy and digital society was an inevitable and popular trend in many countries in the world, particularly in the context of the rapid and strong development of Industry 4.0.   
The Government Office has worked closely with relevant ministries, sectors and localities to implement systems, such as the national public portal, the e-Cabinet, a national inter-document system which helps to send and receive e-documents between State administrative agencies and Government teleconference system. These systems were selected as outstanding information technology events in 2019 and they recorded positive results in a short period. 
Minister and Government Office Chairman Dung said there are a lot of things that need to be done in 2020 and in the following years in order to fulfil targets and tasks set by the Government and the Prime Minister in renewing working principles and methods, towards a non-paper administrative system and management tasks based on data will require more efforts of ministries, sectors and localities.

Therefore, through cooperation, support and conferences held to exchange and share experience with Japan, Viet Nam will continue taking firm steps in implementing e-Government in line with the motto of the Vietnamese Government for 2020: “Discipline, integrity, action, responsibility, creativity and efficiency", contributing to the country’s development and national prosperity as well as the relationship between Viet Nam and Japan. 
Addressing the conference, Japanese Ambassador to Viet Nam Umeda Kunio said building e-Government is an inevitable and essential trend in the world and Japan is implementing it strongly to reduce time in handling work and better serve management tasks. 
The Ambassador said the Vietnamese political environment is stable and opening up new opportunities for strong socio-economic development and the building of the e-Government in this period is in line with Viet Nam’s potential. As a sustainable development partner, Japan commits to join with Viet Nam in efforts to build the e-Government.
At the conference, Vietnamese and Japanese experts shared and discussed some topics, including experience in activities to promote digital government in Japan; implementing Japan’s national statistical system for socio-economic development analysis and forecasting; simplifying reporting mechanisms and standardising reporting process, forms and criteria serving the construction of reporting information system of ministries, sectors and localities; and introducing an information system reporting to the Government and an information centre serving the management of the Government and the Prime Minister./.
