This is a target set by the Plan to implement electronic medical records which was issued following the recently-issued Decision 5349/QĐ-BYT by the Ministry of Health.
An electronic medical record is a computerized document of a medical record (a document recording the whole healthcare process of a citizen from birth to death) which is made, displayed, updated, saved and shared by electronic devices.
According to the plan, by 2020, a minimum 80 percent of citizens nationwide will have electronic medical record and the figure is expected to increase to 95 percent by 2025. Their electronic medical records will be regularly updated and connected with all medical facilities nationwide.
The electronic medical record will help the people regularly keep track of their health information for better care and disease prevention.
Through the software, a patient can easily provide doctors at any medical facility in the country with the patient's medical history, making it easier for doctors to diagnose diseases more comprehensively, correctly and earlier and treat diseases more effectively and help reduce medical expenses.
The decision took effect from November 12, 2019./.
