The Conference is an activity in the Working Plan of the ASEAN Committee on the Implementation of the ASEAN Declaration on Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers (ACMW) in the period 2021 – 2025 led by Vietnam with the support of TAF.

Moreover, new market such as, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Czech, Slovakia, and Romania... the Number of Vietnamese labour to work abroad is stably increasing.

The Deputy Minister shared that labours working abroad have a higher income than those the same work in the country; improving the life of the labours and their families. The labour force when coming back home country will be the resource for the development of the socio-economy in the country and become an essential factor in helping to spread the industry manners, labour discipline and become the cultural bridge between Vietnam and the international. Thus, the labor who come back home country should be mobilized for the promoting socio-economic development of the country.

Through the exchanges of stakeholders, the Conference wishes to have a complete and realistic overview to make effective recommendations on supporting workers to return to work abroad as well as the connection between the domestic and regional labour markets.

At the workshop, Ms. Katherine Loh - International Consultant expressed her support for the project of employment reintegration for migrant workers.

"Returning migrant workers need social security support. Returning migrant workers who go abroad say that the experience and knowledge they have gained during the working process are really valuable. With support, when returning to this group of workers, they will make significant contributions to socio-economic development through the experiences they have gained while working abroad," said Ms. Katherine Loh.

Forseen, Vietnam's National Report will be completed in the first quarter of 2023. In the next period, Vietnam's Report will be used as a premise to develop an approach to the issue with other countries in the ASEAN region to develop a regional report on the reintegration of returning migrant workers.
