Two services related to compulsory social security insurance, health, unemployment, occupational accident and disease insurance are set to be launched on the national public service portal on August 14, saving at least VND1.65 trillion (US$71.7 million) per year.

Thanks to the services, employers now can pay insurance fees and register to adjust the rate based on the change of labour force online.

The services were expected to be put into operation at the launching ceremony of the National Reporting Information System and the Government’s Information and Directing Centre on August 14.

The 1,000th online public service launched on the portal was announced at the ceremony.

The Vietnam Social Security (VSS) has actively co-ordinated with the Government Office to study and develop the online insurance payment methods to provide the service at level 4 on the National Public Service Portal.

The data has been updated by the VSS and the Government Office. From July 31 to August 7, the VSS, the Government Office, banks and payment agencies have tested the system on a trial basis.

Ngo Hai Phan, director of the Administrative Procedures Control Agency under the Government’s Office, said the public service portal will help 780,096 units pay compulsory social security insurance, health, unemployment, occupational accident and disease insurance. More than 14.4 million labourers will have their social security insurance fees paid through the portal.

Another 12.7 million people will have their unemployment insurance fees paid every month on the system.

This is an essential service. Currently, employers have to visit banks or insurance agencies to pay fees. It would promote cashless payments and help employers save at least one working day spent on the procedure, he said.

If 501,044 employers switch to the online service, about VND1.3 trillion will be saved each year, Phan said.

The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) has worked with the Government’s Office to study and accomplish the service which helps employers adjust the insurance rate based on the change of labour force. This is the 999th service launched on the National Public Service Portal.

This is a joint service between the social security sector and MOLISA. The implementation of this service will help businesses cut procedures for reporting labour changes. At the same time, it shares information and data on labour management between agencies to ensure better management.

“It is estimated that employers will save at least two working days and at least VND344 billion each year,” director Ngo Hai Phan said.
