Draft amended Law on Social Insurance
On May 30th, Deputy Director General Le Hung Son held a working session with a group of experts from the International Labor Organization (ILO), led by Mr. André Gama, the ILO's Director of Social Security in Vietnam. The purpose of the meeting was to consult on the amendment and supplementation of the Social Insurance Law. The meeting was attended by leaders of several units under the Vietnam Social Security.

National Assembly member proposed stricter penalties for employers evading social insurance contributions
On June 1, the National Assembly reviewed the report on the supplementary assessment of the implementation outcomes of the socio-economic development plan and State budget in 2022; as well as the performance of the socio-economic development plan and State budget in the first months of 2023. In the discussion session, a number of National Assembly members proposed stricter penalties for employers that fail to pay social insurance contributions.

Implementation plan of Viet Nam - South Korea Social Insurance Agreement
On April 24, 2023, the Government issued Resolution No. 60/NQ-CP approving the Agreement on social insurance signed between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and the Government of South Korea (hereinafter referred to as the Agreement). This is the first bilateral agreement on social insurance between Viet Nam and another partner country and will be an important foundation for Viet Nam to continue negotiating and signing bilateral agreements on social insurance with other countries.

Accelerating Digital Transformation to Best Serve People Using Health Insurance Cards
According to the results of the implementation of Project 06 on developing the application of population database, e-identification and e-authentication for national digital transformation in the 2022-2025 period with a vision to 2030 by Vietnam Social Security (VSS), as of May 16th, there were 12,427 healthcare facilities nationwide that have implemented health insurance consultations and treatment using chip-mounted citizen identity cards (nearly 97% of the total number of healthcare facilities nationwide that provide health insurance consultations and treatment services).
