2022 virtual social security forum for Asia and the Pacific opened

On Feb 22nd, under the host of Marcelo Abi-Ramia Caetano – ISSA Secretary General, social security forum for Asia and the Pacific 2022 offically is held via online platforms. VSS’ representatives have attended the forum as official members.
Social security forum for Asia and the Pacific is ISSA’s annual forum, organized for every three year. This most significant forum on social security in Assia Pacific, attended by a great number of chairmen, directors and managers from social security agencies in the world.

The forum shall be held from Feb 22nd to 24th. The forum’s objective concentrates on key priorities, innovating sollutions and strategic orientation to social security in Asia and the Pacific. The main content includes: progress, challenges, solutions; innovation towards enhancing social security management in Asia and the Pacific; strategies satisfying social security need in Asia and the Pacific.
Presenting at the forum, Marcelo Abi-Ramia Caetano – ISSA Secretary General supposed this is the region’s most important event in 2022. The virtual forum shall be the unique oportunity to share, study and connect the leaders and experts in social security field over the region. With the attendance of senior representatives from ISSA member organizations as well as regional and national organizations, the forum shall put the spotlight on the main priorities, renovation solutions and strategic orientation on social security in Asia-Pacific.
At the forum, the member institutions listened to the report “Priorities to Asia-Pacific social security 2022”: Progress, challenges and solutions” built from four subject fields confirmed as priority during 2020-2022, Besides, Covid-19 pandemic also becomes unprecendent and unexpected priority to countries, governments and social security institutions since the early 2020.

According to Marcelo Abi-Ramia Caetano - ISSA Secretary General, the priorities and some main messages in the report: to develop management methods, to expand and maintain social security coverage rate; to satisfy with aging population’s need; promote inclusive growth and social cohesion; the social security’s reaction to COVID-19 in the pandemic.
“The report detailedly presented the renew on social security institution in Asia and the Pacific to response to the the crisis and solve longterm challenges on expanding coverage, protecting the old, reducing unequality and promoting social inclusion” shared by Marcelo Abi-Ramia Caetano.
Also at the forum, the VSS’ representatives shall present and share the following contents in two parallel sessions: Build and develop unemployment insurance system; expand health insurance coverage and enhance health system quality. At the same time, VSS representatives shall discuss the content “Meeting social security needs: Political visions and strategies”.
In the forum framework, ISSA shall organize a special session on rewarding ISSA Good Practice Award to Assia – Pacific.
ISSA, founded in 1927 and headquartered in Switzerland is the largest multi-dimention social security in the world with 338 member institutions from 157 countries. ISSA’s target objective is to promote dynamic social security in the globalization society through actively supporting member institutions in the world. To satisfy international people’s needs, ISSA desires that social security shall renew and adapt proactively to consolidate integration policy, pioneer and foresee to ensure the better social security access over the world.
Agreed by Prime Minister, VSS joined ISSA in 2015 as Vietnam’s official and unique member in this important multi-dimension forum. Despite being a new member, VSS has actively participated in ISSA’s activities as well as been a bridge to attach ISSA with ASSA during the ASSA 2018-2019 chairman term.
