New ISSA Secretary General - Marcelo Abi-Ramia Caetano

The Council of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) has elected Mr Marcelo Abi-Ramia Caetano from Brazil as its new Secretary General. Taking office in 2019, Mr Caetano was elected for an initial term of 6 years. In his new role, Mr Caetano will manage and direct the activities of the Association and work with key partners in realizing ISSA’s mission of bringing excellence in social security administration.
Marcelo Abi-Ramia Caetano comes from the position as Secretary for Social Security of the Ministry of Finance in Brazil. Mr Caetano is an economist with a PhD degree from the Catholic University of Brasília and has extensive academic and managerial experience in social security.
The election of the new Secretary General of the ISSA took place on 7 December 2018 during the 37th Session of the ISSA Council in Geneva.
