Vietnam Social Security to deploy the advancement of women and gender equality in 2021

Vietnam Social Security (VSS) has just sent a document to its affiliated units and the social insurance agencies of provinces and centrally-run cities on the implementation of a number of key tasks in the action plan for the advancement of women and gender equality in 2021.

Accordingly, 2021 is a year of particularly great significance, the first year to implement the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the 2021-2030 period and programs and projects related to gender equality, prevention and response to gender-based violence in the 2021-2025 period, etc. Therefore, the VSS clearly identifies the key tasks in this plan as follows:

Pursuant to the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the 2021 - 2030 period (Resolution No. 28/NQ-CP dated March 3, 2021 of the Government) and the Program on Gender-based violence prevention and response in the 2021 - 2025 period (Decision No. 2232/QD-TTg dated December 28, 2020 of the Prime Minister), the affiliates and the provincial social insurance agencies shall closely follow and conduct the effective and appropriate implementation at the unit.

VSS and provincial social insurance agencies shall organize conferences (or integrate in conferences and seminars of the unit) to disseminate policies and laws on gender equality, the National Strategy on gender equality for the period 2021 - 2030, Program on Gender-based violence prevention and response in the 2021 - 2025 period, especially gender equality in order to promote the participation of female civil servants and public employees in leadership and management.

To icrease the appointment of members of the Committee for the Advancement of Women, civil servants, officials and employees to participate in training courses on knowledge on gender, gender equality, and skills improvement on linking gender equality to implementing legal documents and build strategies, programs, action plans of the VSS affiliates and the provincial social insurance agencies.

To promptly praise, commend, or propose to praise or commend organizations and individuals with outstanding achievements in the work for the advancement of women and gender equality and the prevention and control of gender-based violence.

To strengthen coordination with relevant agencies to examine, formulate and propose policies related to the work for the advancement of women and gender equality. To mobilize legal resources from domestic and international agencies and organizations to increase sustainability and efficiency in work for the advancement of women and gender equality in the social insurance sector.

Units under the VSS and the provincial social insurance agencies shall promptly verify and report problems and cases related to the work for the advancement of women and gender equality to the Committee for the Advancement of Women of the social insurance industry and People's Committees at all levels to coordinate settlement.

The VSS Office and the provincial social insurance agences shall actively deploy activities in response to the Domestic Violence Awareness Month (June 2021) and National action month on gender equality and prevention of gender-based violence (from November 15, 2021 to December 15, 2021)./.
