Despite implementing social and health insurance policies in extremely difficult conditions due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters, thanks to the attention of the VSS, the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Council and the Provincial People's Committee, the participation of the party committees and local authorities together with the efforts of all civil servants, officials, the Nghe An Social Security Office has gradually overcome difficulties and strived to complete and exceed the assigned tasks and targets.

As of December 31, 2020, Nghe An Province had 2,991,087 participants in social insurance and health insurance. Including: 236,228 participants in compulsory social insurance (an increase of 6,528 compared to 2019, reaching 100.05% of the plan, being one of the few localities with positive growth); 77,381 participants in voluntary social insurance (an increase of 27,971 compared to 2019), the locality with the highest number of participants in voluntary social insurance in the country; 2,843,706 participants in health insurance achieved a coverage rate of 90.6% of the population, etc.

Delivering a speech at the meeting, General Director Nguyen The Manh recognized and highly appreciated the results of Nghe An Social Security Office in recent years. Despite the extremely difficult conditions, especially when the leaders have not been consolidated, the agency has united and unanimously teamed up to complete the assigned targets.

Manh emphasized: Nghe An is one of the leading localities in the country in terms of the number of people participating in voluntary social insurance; the growth of voluntary social insurance is equal to the number of people participating in voluntary social insurance of many provinces combined. The development of voluntary social insurance plays an important role in social security and poverty reduction in the future. This is a "bright spot" of Nghe An. Besides, despite a great number of difficulties, the Nghe An Social Security Office has cooperated very effectively with other branches in reviewing, urging, and inspecting. Nghe An is one of the very few provinces with positive growth in the number of people participating in compulsory social insurance. With the characteristics of a province with a large population and newly developed rural areas, Nghe An has made great efforts to maintain and increase health insurance coverage, approaching 91% of the population. The revenues of social insurance and health insurance have exceeded the targets assigned by the VSS at the beginning of the year.

Another highlight is that the control of the health care fund under health insurance has always been concentrated on; ensuring the health care benefits for the participants; properly and promptly spending for medical examination and treatment establishments; initially controlled the over-estimated speed. The rights of participants enjoying social insurance benefits have always been guaranteed in a timely manner. Nghe An Social Security Office is also one of the leading units in administrative reform and information technology application in performing tasks.

Determining the difficulty of the challenges in 2021, the General Director asked the Nghe An Social Security Office to continue taking advantage of the direction and leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee; the coordination of sectors in implementing social insurance and health insurance policies. To develop plans closely with the actual situation of the locality and promulgate specific action plans; to assign responsibilities to departments and units.

The General Director believes that the Nghe An Social Security Office will continue to promote solidarity, excellently complete all assigned tasks, contributing to the entire industry to well implement policies and laws on social insurance and health insurance.
