Welcoming member organisations of the ASEAN Social Security Association (ASSA) to attend the 36th meeting of ASSA, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei stressed:  The annual ASSA meeting provides a chance for colleagues of the dear ASSA and experts from other organisations to meet, listen and share views and experiences as well as to identify issues of common concern in the field of social security. At the meeting, ASSA members discuss issues relating to development trend of social security towards the target of promoting the development of social security in line with expectations, laws and regulations of member countries. With all of its efforts, ASSA has become a common platform for sharing and cooperation in order to deal with the biggest ever challenges that all of us are facing today in the field of social security.  

Regarding outcomes of the 35th meeting of ASSA hosted by Viet Nam, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei said: In 2018, in Viet Nam, challenges and opportunities of ASEAN social security organisations in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and free labour flows were specifically discussed and assessed; with impacts on the labour market as well as on management goals in ensuring social security for workers. The important thing is to keep pace with the digital world which is changing rapidly and to fulfil the great task as a serviced provider to ensure the best social security for people. The major challenge to social security is not technology itself. The biggest challenge is to control impacts of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in a right way and make full use of opportunities that this trend is offering us.

With discussions and experiences shared at the 36th meeting of ASSA, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei believed that: These information will be very helpful for efforts to promote the development social security benefits in our region and deal with current challenges by adapting, developing and renovating present and future technologies; and enhancing our capacity in the management and administration of assigned social security programmes./.
