Viet Nam Social Security has introduced Plan No 1910/KH-BHXH on the implementation of a programme to present health insurance cards for disadvantaged people and poor patients in 2019.

The move aims to promote the sharing of the insurance sector’s officials, civil servants, public employees and labourers as well as society as a whole to help the disadvantaged participate in the health insurance scheme, and poor patients suffering from serious illnesses at central-level hospitals. It also aims to reinforce the dissemination of humanitarianism and sharing of health insurance policies, as well as increase the percentage of people with health insurance coverage in order to accelerate coverage for the whole population.

Viet Nam Social Security presents health insurance cards to the disadvantaged.

Specifically, in 2019, the programme will assist and present health insurance cards for about 2,400 impoverished people in eight cities and provinces across all regions in the country, namely Yen Bai, Bac Giang, Thai Binh, Ha Tinh, Binh Thuan, Dak Nong, Dong Nai and Tien Giang. Beneficiaries of the programme include people from near poor households; people from households involved in agriculture, forestry, fishery and salt production with meagre living standards; people participating in household health insurance scheme; and students.

The programme also calls for the cooperation and participation of individuals, organisations and businesses to provide financial and material support for some 40 poor patients that suffer from serious illness and are treated at central hospitals.

Each official, civil servant, public employee and labourer in the insurance sector contributes one day’s minimum wage plus contributions by organisations, individuals and businesses towards the programme./.
