At the event, representatives from the VDCA announced the rankings of IT application and e-Government building in 2017 for the three categories of ministries and ministerial-level agencies; Government agencies; and centrally-run cities and provinces.
In 2 years (2016 and 2017), Vietnam Social Security topped the rankings and indexes across all aspects, namely in electronic information portals and websites of Governmental agencies; mechanisms, policies, and regulations on IT application of Government agencies; and human resources for IT application of Government agencies.
Specifically, in the category of Government agencies, Vietnam Social Security is the leading unit in applying information technology in e-Government development. In the category of ministries and ministerial-level agencies, newly published reports said that public service supply was only at a mid-level, with 46.06 percent of requested records shifted to online processing. The Ministry of Finance led the way in the category with more than 20 million requested records processed online.
In terms of centrally-run cities and provinces, the central province of Thua Thien-Hue topped the list in developing e-Government practices in 2017, followed by the central city of Da Nang, the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, the northern province of Quang Ninh, and Ho Chi Minh City.
There were 13 provinces and cities reaching 0.65-0.8 point in the category. Hanoi ranked 12th on the list.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications and Chairman of the VDCA Nguyen Minh Hong affirmed the announced report on IT application and e-Government development is a foundation for ministries, sectors, and localities to grasp the status of their technology use and thus build on plans to promote IT application, contribute to improving the efficiency of management and operation, as well as accelerating administrative reform towards fine-tuning Vietnam’s e-Government development index.
The report on IT application and e-Government development in 2017 was made by the Ministry of Information and Communications’ Department of Informatics, in conjunction with the VDCA, with the aim of assessing the extent of IT application in e-Government development and the management and provision of public service across the ministries, ministerial-level agencies, Government agencies, and centrally-run cities and provinces in 2017.
The result is a great encouragement for Viet Nam Social Security for its outstanding efforts in investing in IT application towards realising the goals of satisfying the public and enterprises and building a more modern and professional e-Government.
