Easier Access for Employees: Multiple SI Benefits Now Processed at Any Convenient VSS Office

Employees and their family members can now submit applications and receive settlements for various social insurance (SI) benefits at any provincial or grass-root social security office that is most convenient for them.

For maternity benefits: Settlement of maternity benefits for workers whose labor contracts or employment contracts are terminated, or who resign before childbirth, who give birth or receive a child via surrogacy, or adopt a child under six months old; individuals with at least six months of voluntary SI contributions, or a combination of mandatory and voluntary contributions within the 12 months preceding childbirth, and are not currently participating in voluntary SI.

For work injury & occupational diseases benefits for employees: Workers who have resigned and are applying for work injury & occupational diseases benefits for the first time; employees who have previously enjoyed benefits for work injury & occupational diseases and are requesting settlement of benefits due to relaspedinjuries or illnesses.

For cases of settling lump-sum SI benefits.

For old-age pension benefits: Individuals participating in voluntary SI, and those preserving their SI contribution period as regulated.

For survivorship benefits: Relatives of individuals participating in voluntary SI; those preserving their SI contribution period; employees participating in mandatory SI who pass away, where the employer has confirmed the SI participation process  and the relatives wish to submit the application directly (except in cases of death due to work injury & occupational diseases).

For cases of settling benefits for employees who do not meet the conditions for pension benefits and are not old enough to receive social pension allowances.

For other cases: Employees and their relatives can submit applications directly to any provincial or local social security offices that is most convenient (submission is independent of administrative boundaries). The receiving social security office is responsible for receiving and forwarding the application to the competent provincial or local social security office for resolution according to regulations. Employers submit applications and request benefits settlement according to the assigned collection contribution management levels.
