Online foreign affair activities: Enhance the efficiency of foreign affair activities and strengthen the status of Viet Nam Social Security

During the past time, to adapt to the actual circumstance, Viet Nam Social Security (VSS) has actively maintained good relationships with international organizations and regional and global social securities via online platforms to promote VSS’s achievements, strengthen its presence and continue to affirm its status in the international social security community at the same time.

VSS has held a series of international conferences, including an online international consultative webinar on Viet Nam Social Security development strategy to 2030 and vision toward 2045.

The webinar was attended by representatives of a number of international organizations in Vietnam, namely: World Health Organization (WHO), International Labor Organization (ILO), World Bank (WB), etc. and international hubs of universities and organizations. VSS presented the common goal to develop VSS to 2030 with a vision toward 2045 to implement the policies and schemes of social insurance and health insurance in a flexible, diversified, multi-layered, modern and internationally integrated way toward universal coverage. Also, VSS committed to be willing to share its successes and lessons learned over a quarter century of establishment and development with its international fellows.

Along with that, VSS held an online international workshop on “Digital transformation – a critical foundation to ensure successful management of social security and members’ entitlement”. According to the evaluation, up to now, VSS has mostly achieved the goals of the e-government development plan toward the digital government by 2025. However, in order to keep up with the current technology development trends, VSS would like to strengthen exchanges and cooperation to build and develop a modern and professional system and ensure members’ entitlement.

At the online webinar on developing a professional social security contribution collection agents  system held by VSS and Japan’s Labor and Social Security Attorney (Sharoushi) Association, representatives of the parties participating such as Sharoushi Federation of Attorney (Japan), National Social Security Agency for Employment (Indonesia), International Labor Organization (ILO), International Social Security Association (ISSA), and Japan Development Cooperation Agency (JICA) shared their experience in developing the social security contribution collection agents in Japan and Indonesia and some suggestions for VSS. VSS also expressed its desire to receive more support and companion from international organizations to develop the social security system, contributing to increasing the participant coverage towards the goal of universal coverage.

It can be seen that via online foreign affair activities, VSS has received numerous critical opinions, suggestions and recommendations from experts to develop VSS effectively and appropriately to match the development of the country and the world.
