VEF consolidates sustainable growth

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc will co-chair the Viet Nam Economic Forum (VEF) 2019 under the theme “Strengthening the fundamental drivers for rapid and sustainable economic development.”

VEF comprises three important workshops, a plenary session, and a high-level policy dialogue, targeting to discuss on key issues of the economy; define trends, opportunities, and challenges; and set new orientations for the coming time.

Specially, the three thematic workshops focus on financing and governance of infrastructure development; climate change adaptation and energy security for sustainable development; and opportunities and challenges for Viet Nam’s digital economy in the context of the Industry 4.0.

The plenary session and high-level policy dialogue entitled “Vietnamese economy in 2018 and prospects in 2019 - Strengthening the fundamental drivers for rapid and sustainable economic development” will take place on the afternoon of January 17 under the chair of PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Head of the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh.

The World Bank Country Director for Viet Nam, the President of the Asian Development Bank will deliver keynote speeches on Viet Nam’s economy in 2018 and prospects for 2019; make recommendations on medium-term economic development.

Last year, Viet Nam scored comprehensive economic development with stable macro-economy, average inflation rate kept at 3.54% -below the ceiling target, and trade surplus hitting record high of over US$7 billion. In addition, GDP growth reached 7.08%, higher than the set target of 6.7%./.
